Wide Format World - It's all about wide format

The independent global community for the wide format print industry

I would love to hear about what companies in the wide format world are doing to be more eco-friendly.  At SA Media, we carpool and have created administrative systems that only require a digital sign off and/or correspondence from invoicing to proofs to sign off forms and checklists and in our office we recycle anything possible and reuse packaging materials as well as educate our customers on what products and printing methods will allow them to participate in lowering their own carbon footprints, etc.  We are always looking for new ways to be greener.

Thanks!

Hi Christina,

At STARFLEX, a leading global supplier of super wide format media for digital printing, we noticed tons of our end of use PVC banner media end up in the landfills or worse go for inceneration. We reacted by investing massively into a dedicated recycling factory.
Now we collect back from the partnering printers and installers the STARFLEX banners wastes and old, used banners. We schred them into little pieces, separate the components, and reuse them in our huge dedicated calandering machine and laminator to produce new printable frontlit banners and bilboard media, giving wastes a new life in the very same market segment. Partnering printers benefit of price advantages when reusing the Recycled banners, our DISCOVERY RANGE.
DISCOVERY is garanteed for perfect printability, permormances and weather resistancy, just like any other banner of the brand.
The result of such an innovation is : 100% less waste PVC in your local landfills or incinerators and 50% reduction of our factory's consumption of virging PVC resins and plasticizers.

STARFLEX is also first company in the digital printing Industry to produce a full range of PHTHALATES FREE reinforced media : under the registered trade name STARFLEX(R)PURE, Frontlit , Backlit, Blockout are now all available without the ingredients that gave PVC a bad press around the globe. All the potentially harmful components have been replaced by new ingredients, results of years of research and cooperation with leading chemical groups.
Needless to say, STARFLEX PURE is also recyclable into DISCOVERY line and will therefore be proposed for collection.

STARFLEX is also proposing non-PVC media wherever technically and performance-wise justified : we offer PE or PP woven banners for short term applications, PHTHALATES FREE self adhesive PVC films, Polyolefines self adhesive films, and we replaced our former PVC coated textiles range by Polyurethane or Acrylic coated textiles.

In any new development, our R&D teams set a top priority making the product as environmentally respectful as feasable. Our Production teams daily focus on reducing the impact on environment by saving energy and water and optimising the production processes. All production wastes are systematically recycled.

We do realise we need to live in the place we produce.
