Membership continues to thrive

It's so great to see the numbers gradually rising here on this community site. It's a really pleasing thing to see. When we set it up last year it was always our intention to allow the community to organically grow, and seeing over 500 or so members is great. Especially when one considers that other community websites are often full of spam members. If these were removed the numbers would look quite different - that's for sure!

For the information of any new members, Mat and I monitor this site all day every day to ensure we don't get spammers hanging around. That said we are totally against moderation, and make it our policy not to over meddle on here with our own blog posts etc. because we don’t want to get in the way of what you guys might want to talk about.

From our perspective we are keen to see a really friendly, transparent community developing to the point where everybody can contribute to the good of our global industry in some small way or another. That could be with an opinion, or a thought for the day, a shout out about something good or indeed bad that has happened in your company today, a service engineer who has made you happy and so on. You know the drill. After all, we're all thought leaders here when it comes to using social media in our businesses. This is why it's important that everybody plays a small part. From small acorns do great oaks grow and all that. OK, I admit, it's a hippy ideal but the only interference we would ever make on here would be for impolite behaviour, downright abuse and racism and maybe just a couple of other things that might end in 'isim'. Other than that - we totally believe that it's your website. We just built it for you to run amongst yourselves as part of our total offering from our parent site at www.graphicdisplayworld.com

I am also hoping that by now you have read my story on GDW regarding the free GDW Printing Industry Business Directory listing. That’s right, it’s totally free. We figured to hell with the business model and sales plans. Nobody’s got any money anyway! Therefore as part of our one year celebrations and the fact that we are storming up the internet ranking charts with a bullet we thought why not? Let's blow it open and make it free forever. After all, you are the print people.
